AccessibilityStandards ComplianceThe igital Womens Club aims to make this website as accessible as possible. The site has been built using XHTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and is compliant with W3C-WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, Level A conformance. The information on this page addresses the following areas:
Access KeysAccess Keys allow you to access the main navigation elements by using your keyboard. If you are using Windows on a PC, press ALT + access key, then enter/return. If you are using a Macintosh press Control + access key, then enter/return. There are six main areas of navigation on this site: The access keys for this navigation area are as follows:
The Search facility can be accessed by using the tab button on your keyboard to navigate to the text box. Then enter your search keyword in the text box, tab to the 'Go' button and then press enter/return. This will bring you to the search results page. The Digital Womens Club logo acts as a navigation device to the DWG homepage. The access keys for this accessibility area are as follows: The main navigation and side navigation on the Digital Womens Club site is dynamically generated so users should use the tab key + enter on their keyboard to move through this area of navigation. The tab key + enter can be used to access all links on a page. To move back through links, press shift + tab + enter. To move back one page press the back space button on the keytboard Skip NavigationFor those of you using screen readers, you are given the option to skip the navigation elements at the start of each page and go directly to the main content. The access key assigned to 'Skip Navigation' is k. Printer FriendlyThe pages on this site are all printer-friendly and only the logo, relevant headings and main content will appear on the printouts. Navigation elements will not be printed. Resizing TextYou can resize the text on the Digital Womens Club by using the buttons provided or through the browser settings. As relative font sizes (small, medium, large etc.) and not pixel-based font sizes have been used on this site, you can easily resize the text. To do do so, please follow the steps below relevant to your browser:

As these browsers can easily be upgraded for free and are used by a very small percentage of internet users, it was preferable to expect users to upgrade their browsers rather than to compromise the design and functionality of the site on more popular, modern browsers.

If you would like to upgrade your Opera browser please visit: As the site is built using CSS2, which is unsupported by IE 4 and below and Netscape 4 and below, it will not display or function as it should. Users of these browsers can still access the information, but without the intended presentation and a certain loss of functionality. As less than 1% of internet users rely on these browsers, it was decided once again, not to compromise the design and functionality of the site for users of more popular, modern browsers.
